It is practically certain that the Melrose Handicap at the Auckland Racing Club’s mid-spring meeting on November 9 will have to be run in two divisions because the field of 46 is 19 above the. safety limit of 27 at the seven-furlong post. Provision will also have to be made for two divisions in the Takapuna Handicap, in which the field is three above the safety '• number of 26 at the mile-and-a-quarter post. Acceptances are:—.
