REEFTON COUNCIL ERECTS STREET NAME-PLATES

(0.C.) REEFTON, Oct. 17. The Inangahua County Council is erecting a series of street names at Reefton, covering the main streets and intersections. The plates are of blue enamel, with white lettering of a plainly-visible size, and will be of benefit to those who are unfamiliar with the street names. The name plates are the first to be placed in Reefton. BOXING TOURNAMENT. Mr. C. Coxall, president, was in the chair at a meeting of the executive of the Inangahua Boxing Association when final arrangements were made for the tournament at Reefton this week-end. The secretary (Mr. F. Archer) reported that two additional trophies had been received for competition. The Rev. Father Kirby reported that the draw for bouts with the boxers from the Marist Sports Organisation, Greymouth, had been altered. This will be the first boxing tournament to be held at Reefton for many years and a large attendance is expected. A number of cups have been donated to the association, and it is intended to allot them for annual competition among local boxers. HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN. A committee has been set up in Reefton to further the health stamp campaign, the members being as follows:—Messrs. C. Coxall (chairman), E. Dobson (secretary), Mesdames A. Hardie, A. Wells, and L. A. Reinbacher.

A target of £lOO for the sale of health stamps has been set, last year’s total being £63/15/-. The Reefton post office staff are arranging a ball, to be held in November, and profits will be devoted to the fund. Business houses in Reefton are to be canvassed and a sales table for health stamps set up at the post office. One Reefton child has been sent to the camp at Glenelg for six weeks’ swell at the health camp there. WOMEN'S GOLF-DRAW. Members of the Waitahu (Reefton) Women’s Golf Club will play a qualifying round on Saturday. The draw is as follows:—Mrs. Strachan v. Mrs. Sharpe- Mrs. Crossman v. Miss O’Grady: Miss King v.
