AUCKLAND T.C. Desert Lad Surprises at Epsom

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 22. The Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting was held at Epsom yesterday in fine weather. There was a large attendance, and the track was in capital order. The totalisator handled £136,768 against £143,551 last year, a decrease of £6783.

In the United Handicap, Auto Chief broke, bringing down Axminster, Popular Girl, and Jackalette, but horses and drivers escaped any serious consequences. The mishap was found to be purely accidental. Results—
