FOOD FOR BRITAIN

GRATITUDE EXPRESSED TO NEW ZEALAND (Rec. 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 20. “New Zealand has once again come to the aid of this country in a most practical manner by sending us large quantities of food contributed under the auspices of her food for Britain Fund,” said Mr W. A. Harrison, chairman of the Harrow Council, when accepting a consignment of tinned food for distribution to needy persons in the Harrow Council’s district. The presentation of food was made by Mrs Jordan, wife of the New Zealand High Commissioner. Replying to an official welcome by .the council, Mrs Jordan stressed that the Bites for Britain scheme was made possible by the housewives’ voluntary surrender of food coupons, and she assured the recipients that the food came with the best wishes of the people of New Zealand.
