Bobby Locke won the Harry Vardon trophy for 1946, averaging 73.16 strokes for 36 rounds.—London. September 19. Buses Replace Trams No more electric" tramcars will be built by or for the Wellington City Council after the four Fiducia trams now being built at the city council’s Newtown workshops. These' trams have been under construction since the early part of the war' their completion being held up on account of shortage of' labour and Now, with a programme of gradual changeover tp trolley ppd Diesel buses, the tramways department does pot intend building dr ordering any further tramcars. It is hoped that the construction of buses will proceed at a pace sufficiently fast to meet any gaps created by trams having to be withdrawn froth service because of repairs being uneconomic.
