Destruction of Opossums
Further proposals relating to the destruction of opossums were under consideration and it was hoped to bring an amendment to the present legislation before the House this session, said the .Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr. Parry) in. .the House of Representatives. Mr., E. P. Aderman (National, New Plymouth) had asked whether the Minister would arrange for an extension of the open season in any area where a longer period was recommended by the district acclimatisation society, and whether he would amend the existing regulations to permit the shooting of opossums with ammunition not larger than .22 shot. The Minister said the maximum that could be done: under the present legislation was being done,
