Louis Knocks Out Mauriello
World Title Bout Ends in First Round (Rec. 3 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept 18. Joe Louis knocked out. Tam! Mauriello in the first round ot their contest for the world heavyweight boxing title. This was the twenty-third time Louis had defended his title in his nine years’ reign. The fight did not attract much notice until a few days ago. Louis had a 131 b weight margin over Mauriello, and at 74 inches is 21 inches taller than his opponent. Louis also has a 76inch reach compared with Mauriello’s 731 inches.
