IS? 247 APPLICATIONS TO AUGUST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. In a review of the universal family benefits the Minister in Charge of Social Security (Mr. Parry) announced to-day that un to the end of August a total of 182,247 applications for the benefit had been received and he estimated that each year there would be 30,000 children born who would become eligible for the benefit. Of the total applications 176,286 had been granted by the end of August. Applicants desiring cash payments in full totalled 113,964 and those desiring payment in whole or part to the Commissioner of Taxes 7469. Applicants desiring payment, to Post Ornce Savings Bank accounts totalled 54,853. _____
