COUSENS AND JAPANESE ANNOUNCER SYDNEY, September 18. “The voice of a young Japanese announcer at Radio Tokio was so like my own it startled me and confused even my wife,” said Major Charles Hughes Cousens during' the fourteenth day of the hearing of the charge of high treason against him. He added that that was one reason why he doubted the ability of Colonel John Prentice, Eastern Command intelligence officer, to recognise his voice on particular occasions. Major Cousens said he was treated kindly in a Japanese private hospital and Tokio Rose, a Japanese female announcer, visited him once a week and brought him food. ■ Cross-examined Major Cousens said -he had heard of Lord Haw Haw but denied using similar programmes.
