BLOOD DONORS

WORK OF TYPING BEING CONTINUED The work of typing samples of blood from people who have offered to become contributors to the proposed blood bank at the Grey Hospital is continuing and approximately 100 samples have been taken to date. No start has been made as vet with the storage proposal. Dr. S. Barclay, chief surgeon at the Grey Hospital, said this morning that about 500 donors were expected to be typed. No start had been made on the blood bank as all samples had to be sent to Christchurch for testing purposes, which involved a certain amount of delay. He expected, however, that the banking scheme would be put into operation in about two \veeks A few members of the Grey District Voluntary Blood Donor Society had been called on to give blood today, continued Dr. Barclay. Their contributions would not be used as the nucleus of the bank but were for present needs at the hospital.
