Strength of American Navy
Admiral Chester Nimitz, in a speech, said that the present United States Navy of 500,000 men, a sixtn of its war-time peak strength, was large enough. An annual inventory should be taken with a view to making further reductions, he said. n can no more be said that the Navy is obsolete than that men are obsolete and unnecessary in war.
