WOOL SECRETARIAT

DOMINION REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTED NEWSPAPER EDITOR ’ (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. Mr. Reginald G. Lund, of Invercargill. has been appointed by the New Zealand Wool Board as New Zealand representative on the International Wool Secretariat. Mr. Lund is a son of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. M. Lund, of Christchurch. He was educated at the Christchurch Boys’ High School, where he was senior monitor and a Deans scholar. He started work as a cadet reporter on the Christchurch Sun in 1926. Mr. Lund joined the staff of The Press in 1930, .and for two years represented this paper and the Otago Daily Times in the Parliamentary press gallery. For a short period in 1933 he was engaged by the Government to do special publicity work for the internal debt conversion. He was appointed chief of staff of The Press at the beginning of 1934, and in November, 1935, at the age of 27, was appointed editor of the Southland Times. During the war Mr. Lund was commissioned in the R.N.Z.A.F., and served in the Solomons as an intelligence officer, and was later invited to attend the United States Naval Air Combat Intelligence School as lecturer and student. He was awarded the M B.E. and also a United States commendation by the' Commander o. Aircraft, Northern Solomons. Mr. Lund will leave New Zealand to take up his appointment towards the end of the year. His wife and three children will follow him later.
