SUCCESSFUL YEAR
COBDEN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH At the annual meeting of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church,. Cobden, the managers’ report dealing with the work of the year was presented, and showed that the first year in the new church had been a most successful one. The total attendances during the year had exceeded 2500, which had amply demonstrated the need for the erection of a church. Services had been held weekly, alternating ‘ afternoon and evening, which had proved to be in accordance with the needs of the congregation, and had given the children an opportunity to attend the afternoon worship. A branch of the Young Worshippers’ League had been formed, with a substantial membership. The Sunday School, under Mr. H. E. Anderson, had made substantial progress, and staged a successful concert. The finances were in a healthy position, the final payment to the contractor having been made. Donations to the property account during the year, totalled over £250. Great appreciation of the work of the Ladies’ Social Club which had, in addition to supplying the whole of the furnishings for the church, raised a substantial amount towards the reduction of the debt, was voiced by members. The amount of work that had been done by the Rev. T. G. Campbell and by members of the committee, .in connection with the establishment of St. Andrew’s was also the subject of favourable comment. To fill the vacancies on the committee, caused by departures from the district, Mrs. W. F. Pullin, and Messrs H. E. Anderson and R. C. White were elected.
