KILLER CONFESSES

MURDER OF SCHOOLGIRL

DESCRIBED

(Rec. 11.25 a.m.) CHICAGO, Aug. 6. The State Attorney, William Tuohy, announced that Heirens had confessed to killing Susette Degnan, Mrs Brown and Mrs. Ross. Heirens told how he strangled tne Degnan girl with his hands while she was in bed. He then took the body to the basement of a nearby building, cut it up and dropped the pieces in sewers. He then wrote a note demanding 20,000 dollars ransom? He had selected his victim by chance after seeing the open window, and was in a daze while killing the girl and disposing of the body. Heirens said that he had squirted oil on the ransom note to remove clues and then, after leaving the note in the victim’s room, went home and studied. He then ate doughnuts and coffee at a restaurant and went to school. .He had intended to burgle the Degnan home which he visited aloneafter drinking with friends. After the crime he had burned his coat which had blood on te wrist.
