FISHERMEN’S STRIKE
24 MEN INVOLVED AT GISBORNE
(P.A.) GISBORNE, August 7. Gisborne fish shops have been without fresh local supplies, since the week-end following a decision by the fishermen not to take out their boats until they receive a satisfactory ruling from the Price Tribunal on them application for an increase in wholesale prices. Twenty-four men working the boats on a share basis are involved.
It is reported that two wholesale firms have announced their willingness to pay the increased prices at the wharf-side, but a third firm has referred the application to the Price Tribunal.
