AIR SERVICE
NEW PLYMOUTH LINK
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 7. The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, announced to-day that the Government .is to provide a new civilian passenger and mail air service between Auckland and Wellington, via New Plymouth, b£ transferring six De Havilland six-scater Dominie aircraft from the R.NZ.A.F. to Union Airways at the end of this month. The planes concerned are at present operated by No. 42 Squadron of the R.N.Z.A.F., which has been maintaining a, service over the same route for some time past. q Union AirXvays in taking over both the aircraft and service will be acting for the National Airways Corporation until the corporation itself is in a position to function.
