ECONOMIC UNITY
DIFFICULTIES IN GERMAN ZONES
(Recd. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 6. General Lucius Clay told- the Provincial Council that economic unification of the British and American zones would be more difficult than was first realised, because it involved economic unity without political unification, says Reuter’s Stuttgart correspondent. General Clay added that the Provincial Council would work out the details with the German authorities in the British zone when economic unity was in force. He said currency reform was at present imoossible. The British Control Commission announced that city dwellers in the British zone are getting 200 more calories in their daily ration, making a total of 1337 calories. There will be more bread, fats and meat.
