PETROL RATIONING
A USTRA LI A’S POSITION
(Rec. 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, August 7
If tanker space could be provided for 100,009 tons of petrol a month and an adjustment of the dollar position could be effected with the British Government, the relaxation and ultimate abandonment of petrol rationing would be considered, stated the Prime Minister, Mr. Chifley in the House pf Representatives.
In the Senate, the leader of the Government, Senator Ashley, said tyre control would be removed as soon as sufficient tyres were being manufactured for equitable distribution.
