BUCKINGHAMSHIRE LACE.—The beautiful Buckinghamshire lace, one of the most outstanding handicraft products of the early nineteenth century, was made on a pillow like this one. One candle only could be afforded in the cottages where it was produced and to get sufficient light the three solid glass globes were placed in position, as shown in the picture, to concentrate the candle’s beams on to the pillow.
