BRITAIN BUYING ONLY ' ESSENTIALS
WASHINGTON, August 5
Britain has begun limited spending of part of the 3,750,000,000-dol-lar loan, but only for essentials such as dried eggs, cotton, wheat, other food, and motion .picture films. British Embassy officials disclosed that high American prices- were a factor limiting purchases and orders for coal machinery to modernise Britain’s collieries. These probably will be postponed until lhe cost situation is levelled off.
