COAL MINES IDLE
HEATING AT LIVERPOOL COLLIERY WALLSEND STOPPAGE Two of the State coal mines in the Grey district were idle to-day; The Liverpool mine at Rewanui was not worked on account of heating in the Morgan East section, the men returning home shortly after their arrival. Representatives of the Miners’ Union and the management inspected the area later in the day and decided that it was fit for work. Tire back-shift will commence work this afternoon. At Wallsend, after a protracted stop-work meeting, the men found that the check inspectors had not concluded their inspection and tests of a new trolley, and decided that it was then too late to commence work. .The men concluded their meeting at 8.30 and returned home about 9.15. Work will be resumed to-morrow.
