EISENHOWER’S AV ARNING TO UNITED STATES _NEW YORK,' August 2. _ General Eisenhower, in a general circular, told United States Army commanders that they must modify thier plans to be ready to defend the nation “at a moment’s notice” against an airborne or sea-borne invasion says the Washington correspondent of the New York Herald-Tribune. General Eisenhower issued a warning that any nation possessed of scientific resources and a ruthless purpose could inflict devastating blows against the most powerful nations. He emphasised the necessity for keeping a force sufficiently large to repel surprise attacks and to recapture the initiative.
