ARMENIA’S FUTURE
LABOUR M.P.’s PRAISE SOVIET RESTORATION OF LANDS (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 2. “It was only after I arrived that I understood the tremendous work the Government of Soviet Armenia is doing in bringing thousands of Armenians home from abroad,” said the British Labour parliamentarian, Mr. J. Silverman, at a press conference in Armenia, quoted by the Rev. Stanley Evans, also a Labour member. Mr. Silverman added: “To unite a people dispersed over the world and to create conditions for the immigration of Armenians is possible only under a Soviet Government, which gives them security and confidence in to-morrow.”
Referring to the restoration to Armenia' of lands annexed by Turkey, Mr. Silverman said: “Unfortunately, most Britishers know little about Soviet Armenia. We members of the delegation understand this vital problem for you, reflecting the innermost feelings and aspirations of the Armenian people. I believe this problem can be solved with the help of the United Nations.” Mr. Evans said: “We should be frank on this point. When we arrived in Soviet Armenia we saw the restoration of lands forcibly wrested from you by Turkey as a vital and practical " problem and unless this problem is solved Armenia will not be able to receive the hundreds of thousands of Armenians dispersed throughout the world.”
