VILLAGE SET AFIRE
ALLEGED COMMUNIST BAND IN GREECE (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 2. Rocket-firing Spitfires swooped on an alleged Communist band which broke through the cordon and escaped after setting on fire a village north of Larissa, says the Associated Press Athens correspondent. Greek troops surrounded the band in darkness and brought up heavy weapons while the fighters strafed for 70 minutes. The band, however, broke out after, it is understood, killing six prisoners.
