FOUND DROWNED

MAN’S BODY IN AVON RIVER

The body of Charles Edward Robinson, married, a labourer, aged 35 years, was found in the river Avon, Christchurch, near Rhododendron Island, above the Bridge of Remembrance, at IT .40 a.m. yesterday. He was last known to be in his dwelling at 19 Sjwann’s road at 5 p.m. on May 24, at which hour he left after stating his intention of going to the West Coast. The body appeared to have been in the river for several days. An inquest was opened before the Coroner (Mr. Raymond Ferner) yesterday afternoon, and after evidence of identification had been given by Francis Mortimer O’Donohue was adjourned sine die. ( Mr. Robinson, who was. a native of Ahaura, is survived by his wife and two children and four brothers, James, Te Kinga; John, Plimmerton; Arthur, Rotomanu and Martin, Gladstone. The funeral will take place at the Karoro Cemetery, Greymouth, to-morrow morning.
