Strange Week-end House Parties

(Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. Strange week-end house parties at Cobham, Surrey, where prospective civil service officials are submitted to a gruelling test to see if they have the right personality for administrative jobs, are being conducted by a Government examiner, says the Evening Standard. The candidates are divided into groups of seven under the care of a chairman, obesrver and psychologist who remain with them all the week-end, including meal times. The tests for the candidates in a recent party included writing a description of themselves as seen by a critic and a friend, interviewing each other regarding an imaginary vacancy, speech making and answering questions concerning their background. One organiser said: The parties are proving a most efficient method of selecting the best men.”
