ROCKET Competition to Start on Saturday
At a meeting of the West Coast Hockey Association it was decided to commence competition matches on Saturday with two games at the Recreation Ground and one at Cobden Domain. It was decided that efforts be made to secure a representative match against Canterbury, the proposed date being in September and the place Christchurch. The appointing of selectors was held over. A committee to arrange fixtures, referees, and postponements was appointed as follows: —Messrs. L. Coffey, J: Sloss, and A. Lamberton. Mr. W. E. Newton presided at the meeting, and others present were: Messrs. R. Pascoe, V. Messenger, R. C. Bennett, I. Burn, A. Lamberton, M. Newton, and L. P. Coffey (secre-tary-treasurer) . Fixtures Arranged for Saturday The draw for the first round of the West Coast Hockey Association’s competition is as follows: —Cobden A v. Marist, Recreation Ground, 1.15 p.m. (Messrs. Sloss and Newton); Pacific v. Greymouth, Recreation Ground, 2.30 p.m. (Messrs. Sloss and Newton); Cobden. B v. Wheelmen, Cobden Domain, 3 p.m. (Messrs. Burn arid Horr.ack).
