UNDERGROUND PLANT
GERMAN AVAR FACTORY BLOWN UP (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 23. Royal Engineers, using eight and a half tons of explosives, blew up a vast underground rocket-gun and ball-bearing factory built deep into the mountainside near Minden. The factory had four floors tunnelled through solid rock to a depth of nearly 400 feet. The engineers worked for three weeks laying the massive charge. Precautions were taken to protect houses in the adjacent village from the blast.
