The West Coast Lawn Tennis Association’s Easter tournament was concluded at the Greymouth courts yesterday. The weather throughout the four days of play was fine and the standard of play was good. The men’s singles championship was won by A. D. Hunter, of Canterbury, who defeated R. G. Pattinson in the semifinal and J. Baddeley in the final after an excellent exhibition. The Pattinson brothers won the men’s doubles in convincing fashion, Hunter and Hill going down 6-2, 6-3. In the women’s events Miss M. Costello again demonstrated her ability to wear down the opposition by steady play. She won the women’s singles and, partnered by Miss Stapleton and J. Angas (Christchurch), showing much of his former courtcraft, speed of movement, and accuiacy, beat O. Bold (Lower Hutt) m straight sets. Misses M. Kerr and L. Foote, both of Otago, provided a good exhibition of driving in the final ol the women’s singles. J. C. Robertson and J. W. Pateison will meet D. Radford and A. L. Scott in the final of the men s doubles. The women’s doubles final will be contested by Miss L. Barrett and Mrs. Gilkison and Miss M. Kerr and Mrs. J. Adams.
