SUDDEN DEATH
ELDERLY MAN FOUND IN COTTAGE
ADJOURNMENT OF INQUEST
A retired labourer, Mr. Joseph Benson, aged 70 years, was found dead upon the floor of the kitchen of his house in Ashmore avenue, Cobden, at five o’clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Benson appeared to be in his usual health yesterday afternoon when he visited Greymouth. He was seen on. his return by Mr. F. J. Petherbridge who was carrying out redecorating work in the house. Mr. Petherbridge left at about the time of Mr. Benson’s arrival and on his return at 5 o’clock found the body on the kitchen floor. native of Sweden the deceased came to New Zealand from the United States about 16 years ago. He was employed by the Greymouth Borough Council up to a month ago. Predeceased by his wife many years.ago, he is survived by a daughter, Miss Bretta Benson, of Cobden.
An inquest, was opened at Greymouth this morning, before the de-puty-Coroner, Mr. M. J. Fogarty J.P., and after evidence of identification had been given by Constable A. G. Beard, of Cobden was adjourned sine _______
