Canadian Defence.
The Canadian Army has announced plans for a Dominion post-war force of three branches. It provides for higher pay rates, but also stiffer educational requirements for officers and enlisted men. The force will be composed of an active branch and a reserve branch and a supplementary reserve branch. The active branch will consist of a field force of about 25,000 men. The Government has announced increased service pay rates, which are designed to attract the highest type of recruit to Canada’s peace time active forces. The rates will be effective from October 1 next. The Canadian Press Service says: Proportionate increases, it is reported, have been given to higher ranks. It adds that the new rates will place all comparable ranks and trades for the Navy, Army and Air Force on a party .-—Ottawa, April 16.
