Mrs. W. M. Stewart left to-day for a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mr. R. G. Bunchenberg left for • Wellington by air this morning. Miss E. Willis left for Wellington by air this morning. Mrs. J. McFarlane and Mrs. R. Craddock left this morning on their return to Amberley. Miss 1. Reedy, formerly of Frankton Junction, has commenced duties as clerk in charge of the Railway bookstall, Greymouth. Messrs J. A. Gilmour,. S.M., E. W. Barnes and Dunlop, members of the Railway Appeal'' Committee which sat in Greymouth yesterday, left today on their return to Christchurch. Mr. E. D. Orr, who has been stationmaster at Greymouth during the past six months, has received advice of his transfer on promotion to the position of goods agent, Christchurch.
Dr. D ,M. Logan, medical superintendent of‘ the Grey Hospital, has commenced annual leave. Dr. F. Sligo, who recently returned from overseas, is on relieving duty at the hospital in the absence of Dr. Logan. Mr. John Roberts, president of the Canterbury Trades Council, and a member of the Economic Stabilisation Commission, has been nominated by the Wellington Carpenters’ Union for the presidency of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. Mr. E. Langbein, assistant engineer to the Grey Electric Power Board, who has been serving overseas with the armed forces, has resumed duties. He was welcomed back by the chairman (Mr. P. Blanch field) and members of the board at the monthly meeting held last evening. Mr. L. S. Donnelly has been appointed engineer to the Hutt County Council. For the last five years Mr. Donnelly, who is 38, has been attached to the ground staff of the R.N.Z.A.F., holding the rank of flight, lieutenant. He had 17 years’ experience as a civil engineer before going into the Air Force, and was for six years engineer to the Hokianga County Council.—(P.A.) Dr. Murray McGeorge was. appointed children’s physician on the medical unit at the Dunedin Hospital by the Otago Hospital Board last night. “There were eight applicants for the position, which carries a salary of £l5OO. Dr. McGeorge is 39 years of age. He holds the degrees of M. 8., Ch.B. (New Zealand), M.R.C.P. (London), M.R.A.C.P. and M.D. (New Zealand). A further appointment made by the board was that of Dr. O. W. Chapman as senior assistant on the medical unit at the hospital at a salary of £BOO. Dr. Chapman is 33 years of age and is a son of the Registrar of Otago Uni- 1 versify. He held junior appointments at the Wellington Hospital in 1938, and at present is Medical Reg-, istrar at the London Chest Hospital. ,-(P.A.)
