OPERA HOUSE.—Finally To-night: “In Society.” Tuesday: “A Night of Adventure” and “Jacare.” A murder mystery and a highly exciting romance are the main ingredients of “A Night of Adventure” commencing at the Opera House tomorrow. - s Tom Conway is in the leading role, supported by Audrey Long, Edward Brophy and Jean Brooks. Conway portrays Mark Latham, brilliant criminal lawyer, who incurs the wrath of a subversive group. His work prevents him paying his wife, Erica, the attention she desires, so she leaves him. Tony Clark, an artist, and she are seen together at night clubs. When a model of Clark’s is found in his studio, shot to death, Clark is arrested. Latham undertakes his defence to keep Erica’s name out of the proceedings. How he smashes the false evidence of a subversive gang, wins his case and his wife forms the climax, “JACARE” A story of beauty, cruelty and valour in the Brazilian jungle, is “Jacare,” presented by Frank Buck and commencing at the Opera House tomorrow. Dannaldson and Rojinsky start out at Belem, an Amazon River port with Indian river boys, and encounter amazing adventures, until they reach Jacare land. Here the “star” of the film, the huge, crawling and killing Jacare, spreads out in hate and ugliness upon the jungle ground. A hairraising sequence is Dannaldson’s bare-handed struggle with this mankilling monster. Jacare is killed but not before Jim had a chance to prove to his enthralled audience his strength, clear wits and sheer courage. This is one of the most exciting spectacles of man’s contest with a beast of the jungle. REGENT THEATRE.—FinaIIy Tonight: “Gaslight.” Commencing Tuesday: “Talk About Jacqueline.” “Talk About Jacqueline,” starring Carla Lehmann and Hugh Williams, commencing at the Regent Theatre to-morrow, tells the story of Jacqueline Marlow, a typical “glamour girl,” who in the care-free days before the war sets out to have a good time in the fashionable circles of London, Paris and the Riviera. She is wooed by all—won by none—and her private life is quite public. On the Continent she meets a youngdoctor with whom she falls in. love, and who knowing nothing of her giddy reputation falls in love with her. Not wishing to spoil his career she returns to England. There they meet again, and Jacqueline confides her problem to her young sister who urges her to marry and forget her past frivolities. Later, on their honeymon the doctor hears gossip concerning “the Marlow girl,” and begins to ask awkward quqestions. The younger sister whom he has not met, steps nobly into the breach and behaves as she thinks a “girl about town” should. This she 'does to such effect that she not only complete? fools her brother-in-law, but almost ruins her own romance. Finally, j however, all ends well for all con'ceiffied.
