[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, December 6. No coal was hewn to-day at several mines on the Reeiton coal field, the stoppage of production being due to the lack of railway trucks andhoppers. All mine bins are full, and the * supply of railway waggons at Reefton station yards are full. It is expected that work will be resumed on Friday, and to-day’s back shift men will start work if supplies of coal trucks come to hand. Cold southerly weather brougnt a further fall of snow to the mountains and both the Paparoa Range and Mt. Ajax in the foothills of the Divide are capped with snow. The rainfall in 24 hours to 4 p.m. to-day has been slight, and the Inangahua River and its side streams are now back to normal level. Mi’CFrancis O’Donnell (Cronadun), who was removed to Reefton Hospital after receiving injuries when he was gored by a bull, is improving. Representatives of four main West Coast branches of the Returned Servicemen’s Association are to meet at Reefton during the week-end for a conference. Delegates from several sub-associations are also to attend. The Reefton Association will entertain the visitors at a dinner. After being on order by the County Council for some time a new fire alarm siren for the Reefton Fire Brigade has arrived. The new alarm, which is to be electrically operated, was given a short trial to-day.
