NORWEGIAN QUISLINGS
THREE EXECUTED (Recd. 11.50 a.m.) OSLO, October 23. The Minister of Justice, Mr. Palen, estimated that there were 43,000 Quislings in Norway. He said that 24,000 had been arrested for, treason, of whom about 9,000 were now freed. Nine hundred cases were dealt with by the Court while there have been three executions. The average punishment for those who fought with German forces was from six to eight years’ hard labour. The Norwegian Labour Party decided to-day to form a new Government alone and rejected offers of cooperation by Communists and other parties.
NORWEGIAN MIGRANTS OSLO, October 21. . “Soldiers and others in Norway who are' disappointed with conditions at home want to emigrate, particularly to Australia and Chile,” says the Exchange Telegraph Agency correspondent in Oslo. Others want to go to Canada and South America. Some want to join the French Foreign Legion. The authorities have told them that special arrangements are being made to better their conditions, and that all are needed in Norway.
