"TRUTH” DRUG

CONFESSION BEFORE USE LONDON, September 18. An Englishman masquerading as an American soldier promptly confessed to a theft when threatened with an injection of “truth serum,” according to a witness in Malvern Court. This is the first time the drug, which it is claimed makes the recipient tell the truth, has been mentioned in a British court. An American army medical officer explained that the drug was to have been used on 19-year old Peter Collins when he was taken to Malvern Hospital after pleading loss of memory. “The drug,” he said, “puts patients to sleep during which they tell the whole story.” Authorities at United States headquarters in London said that the serum was an ordinary medication which produced a relaxed condition.
