Unsuccessful: The Greymouth Trotting Club’s application for one of the 15 extra permits for racing days recently announced has been unsuccessful, according to advice received from the Conference.

From Alma: Batal, the winner of the Avondale Guineas, is a three-year-old gelding by Battle Song from that fine race mare Alma. Batal, cost 1300 guineas at the yearling sales. On breeding he should win many more races.

Promising. Trotters:. G. Cameron considers that in a Brilliant GlobeSea Gift filly he is training he has the most promising trotter he had even seen. The filly’s appearance on a racecourse will be awaited with interest for Cameron knows his unhoppled trotters.

By Nizami: Kirstymac, who won the Debutant stakes at Wanganui, is the first of the Nizamis to race. She is from the Vaals mare Valdene, who was a useful winner. H. Dulieu should have a good season with Kirstymac as she won impressively. Blue Simon who was second is a brother to Black Simon, being by Revelation from Lone Flier, Blue Tie who followed the other two home is by GyneriumChevy Chase, by Beau Pere-Barba-can, dam also of Taurangi. Fit Horses: Kevin and Beau Cheval cantered to the three furlong post, and then sprinted home in 36 4-ssec, at Riccarton yesterday. Both horses are very well forward, and should race well to-morrow. Confusion galloped five furlongs in 1.2 1-5, the last three in 36 2-ssec, and Nightstalk ran home three furlongs in 36 4-ssec. John o’London finished slightly in front of Salmi after recording 1.2 2-5 for five furlongs, the last four in 48 2-ssec.

HIGH-PLAY—IMMEDIATE SYDNEY, September 13. The New Zealand horses Immediate and High Play galloped impressively at Victoria Park to-day. They ran six furlongs, wide out, in 1.17. The pair were allowed to stride out for the first two furlongs, done in 25 seconds, but gradually they were eased back, until they were travelling comfortably over the final stages. If the present intentions are adhered to, Immediate will run in the Camelia Stakes at Rosehill on .Saturday, in which he has 8.10, and High Play will run in the Highweight Handicap, in which he has the top weight of 10.10. NEWMARKET SALES (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 13. Thirty-six yearlings changed hands for 83,670 guineas, averaging 2324gn5., at Newmarket to-day. The 283 lots offered this week aggregated 475,000gn5., averaging 1680gns. The top price to-day was 8100gns. by an Irish overseas agency for a colt by Hyperion from Windrush. A further 36 lots will be offered in the final session to-morrow.
