From Alma: Batal, the winner of the Avondale Guineas, is a three-year-old gelding by Battle Song from that fine race mare Alma. Batal, cost 1300 guineas at the yearling sales. On breeding he should win many more races.

Promising. Trotters:. G. Cameron considers that in a Brilliant GlobeSea Gift filly he is training he has the most promising trotter he had even seen. The filly’s appearance on a racecourse will be awaited with interest for Cameron knows his unhoppled trotters.

By Nizami: Kirstymac, who won the Debutant stakes at Wanganui, is the first of the Nizamis to race. She is from the Vaals mare Valdene, who was a useful winner. H. Dulieu should have a good season with Kirstymac as she won impressively. John o’London finished slightly in front of Salmi after recording 1.2 2-5 for five furlongs, the last four in 48 2-ssec.

The 283 lots offered this week aggregated 475,000gn5., averaging 1680gns. The top price to-day was 8100gns. by an Irish overseas agency for a colt by Hyperion from Windrush. A further 36 lots will be offered in the final session to-morrow.
