LONDON DOCKS DISPUTE.
LONDON, July 23. The Government, to-night, intervened in the go-slow strike at the London docks, which has almost brought work to a standstill for two months. The dockers at a mass meeting, to-day, rejected the wages proposals agreed at a joint conference on July 21, whereupon the Ministry of Laboui’ announced the Government had decided that ships carrying essential cargoes shall continue to use the port when necessary. Avoidable delays cannot.be permitted, therefore all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the expeditous handling. The nature of the proposed intervention has not been stated. The “Daily Express” says that soldiers will be brought in to keep supplies moving. The go-slow has reduced London to a fifth rate status until the dockers return to full work.
