Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bluett left on Saturday evening for Auckland.

Mr. C. F. Hunt, postman, Chief Post Office, Greymouth, has been transferred to the position of messenger, mail room, Wellington, and will leave at an early date.

Mr. H. A. J. Weston, of the Money Order branch, Chief Post Office, Nelson, has been transferred to a similar position at Greymouth, and will take up duties on May 19.

Mrs. M. Outram, Swanson Street, Greymouth, has received cabled advice from her son Jim that he is now safe and well in England, after being a prisoner of war in Germany.

Mrs. C. \\ T . Brown, Murray Street, , has received advice that her son, Private 1 Cecil Brown, who has been a prisoner of war for three years, is safe m England.

Mrs T. Kelly, Alexander Street, Greymouth, has received advice that her son, Pte. J. Kelly, who has been a prisoner of war for over three years, is now safe in England.

Cabled advice has been received by his parents from Driver J. G. Mosley, of Preston Road that he has arrived in England from a prisoner of war camp in Germany.

A Canberra cablegram stated that the Prime Minister (Mr. Curtin) is expected to leave hospital early this week. He will rest at the Prime Minister’s Lodge for at least a month before returning to work.

Advice has been received from England of the engagement of Flying Officer S. H. Werner, R.N.Z.A.F., only son of Mr. H. J. and the late Mrs. Werner, of Dunollie, to Miss S. Brain, only daughter of Mr. A. G. and the late Mrs. Brain, Mickleton, Gloucester. The wedding is to take place at St. Laurence Church, Mickleton, in June.

The acting-headmaster of the Cobden School, Mr. J. Horrack, who has been transferred to the Kaiata school, was farewelled by members of the Horne and School Association at a meeting recently, appreciation of his work being expressed. On behalf of the Association, Mr. W. J. Hicks made a presentation of a barometer to Mr. Horrack, wishing him every success. Mr. Horrack returned thanks.

The death occurred at Greymouth on Saturday afternoon of Miss Florence Scott,' of Turumaha Street. Aged 71 years, the late Miss Scott was bom at Nelson, but came to Greymouth as a child. She had been a member of the Methodist Debating Club. She is survived by four sisters, Mesdames Tapp (Wellington), Walter Leitch (Christchurch). Clement Parfitt (Greymouth) and Miss Nell Scott (Blenheim), and four brothers, Walter and Llewellyn (Greymouth), and George and Arthur (Wellington). The funeral will take place at Karoro Cemetery tomorrow afternoon.
