At the Ward conference of the Daily Board at Motueka, Mr W. E. Hale, Chairman of the Board, congratulated the dairy farmers on their response to the request for greater production. They had more than achieved the industry’s objective for the season, and at present the increase looked as if it would average about 10 per cent, to 12 per cent., above last season. That meant that, after making full allowance for produce consumed on the local market, the industry would have made available an extra 20,000 tons of butter and 10.000 tons of cheese.
