ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Blaketown Women’s Institute was held in Blaketown Hall. Mrs. Mann presiding over a fair attendance. The meeting opened with the Institute song and aspirations. Remits for annual meeting of West- Coast Federation were discussed and delegates appointed to attend. The retiring president gave a resume of the year’s worn and a satisfactory balance sheet was presented by the treasurer. The roll call for the next meeting is to be “payment of annual subscription”, and the competition, display of handwork. A letter was received from an airman serving in the Pacific thanking members for parcel received. The most points gained for competitions held during the year were. Horticulture: Mrs. Parmenter 1, Mrs. Marley 2, Mrs. Herring 3. Cookery: Mrs. Marley 1, Mrs. Parmenter 2, Mrs. McDowall 3. Handcraft: Mrs. J. Graham 1, Mrs. Marley 2, Mrs. McDowall 3. . The following officers were elected. President, Mrs. Mitchell; secretary, Mrs. Groom; vice-presidents, Mrs. Parmenter and Mrs. Mann; treasurer, Mrs. Herring; committee, Mesdames Hillman, Longstaff, McDowall, Marley, Graham and West. The hostesses were Mesdames Mitchell, Manson, McDowall, Marley, Messenger, Maughan, Mann and Innes.
