The death occurred yesterday at Dunedin of Mr. Albert Ernest Harraway, lawn tennis player, cricketer, and bowler. —P.A.

Mr A. H. Nightingale, who has been manager of Ross and»Glendinning, Greymouth, for the past eight years and a-half, left his morning on transfer to Christchurch. He was accompanied by Mrs Nightingale.

Mrs E. M. Good and Miss M. Seebeck left yesterday for Christchurch. Miss Seebeck, whose marriage will take place to-morrow was tendered a gift evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McKay, where she received numerous gifts and the good wishes of friends.

The death has occurred of Mr. Robert Scott of Kyeburn, Central Otago. He was M.P. for Tuapeka in 1908-1911, Central Otago 1911-19, and a member of the Legislative Council 1920-34. He was aged 90.— P.A.

The funeral of the late Sydney William Taylor, of Ngahere, took place at Karoro Cemetery, the palloearers being the deceased’s grandsons. The chapel service and the service at the graveside were conducted by Rev. C. A. Scarffe, of Ahaura.

The death ocurred suddenly at Christchurch, yesterday, of Mr John Highsted, aged 67 years. He was caretaker of the Addington trotting track since 1928. In re-making the track he produced the fastest track in the Southern Hemisphere, and the only one in which a mile in better than two minutes has been run.

The death occurred at his residence in Parnell of Canon Edgar James McFarland, honorary canon of St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Bishop’s chaplain. Canon McFarland was born in Londonderry more than 87 years ago, and came to New Zealand as a boy with his father, who was a civil engineer; —P.A.

The death occurred at Nelson, yesterday, of Mrs. Mary Jane McNabb. Born in London in 1893 she came to the Dominion with her parents at the age of one year. Most of. her life was spent at Karamea and for some years she resided at Greymouth. Seven years ago she left for Motueka where her husband died two years later. She is survived by four sons, John (Greymouth), Donald (Auckland), Percy (Hunterville) and Noel (Motueka) also grandchildren.

The death occurred in Christchurch last -evening of Mr. Thomas Pryde, who was for 32 years secretary of the Southland Hospital Board. He was 74 years of age. lye had gone to Christchurch for a holiday, and became ill there. Mr. Pryde was appointed secretary of the Southland Hospital Board in 1908, and retired at the end of 1939. He was a member of the board for a term of three years after his retirement, and a member of the Invercargill City Council from 1941 to 1944, He was a member of the management committee of the Southland Bowling Centre for 27 years. In 1927 he was Dominion president of the Associated Churches of Christ.— P.A.
