BOXING

GORDON’S LICENSE SUSPENDED

WELLINGTON, November 8. The Council of the New Zealand Boxing Association, at a special meeting to-day, had before it the findings of the management committee of the Wellington Boxing Association concerning an inquiry it had held into the contest between Jim Griffin and Clarrie Gordon on Monday night, when Gordon was counted out early in the first round, and the bout declared no contest by the referee, Mr. Phin Stone. After hearing the chairman of the Wellington Boxing Association (Captain Mullany) and the referee in the action he had taken, Griffin was exonerated from any blame in the matter, but it was decided that Gordon’s license should be suspended.
