SALE OF OPOSSUM SKINS. DUNEDIN, November 7. The Dunedin Stock Agents’ and Woolbrokers’ Association reports that the last main sale of opossum skins was held to-day, when a record offering of more than 270,000 skins was submitted to a fair attendance of exporters, furriers, and the local trade. The quality of the skins on the average was good, and the get-up of the consignments on the whole was fairly satisfactory, fatting, stretching, etc., with few exceptions being well done. Demand was again restricted, and values compared with September prices can be quoted as follows: blues and greys, 9d to 1/- lower; other descriptions, on the average, 1/- to 1/6 lower. Seconds, thirds, and damaged skins showed the greatest decline. Mouldy, badly-stretched, damaged, stale, rough, inferior and weevily skins were difficult to quit, and sold at low rates. Blues sold to 20/7 each; grevs, to 13/7 each; greys (pale) to 8/9 each; greys (rustys), to 8/9; red necks, to 8/6; browns (red), to 6/10d; browns (dark), to 6/8; blacks, to 6/5; slates, to 4/6.
