BRITISH TROOPS’ SACRIFICE

(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 7. British troops in Greece from November 15 will be put on hall rations in order to provide more food for the Greek population. This was revealed in a letter to the Greek Premier from Major-Genei al Scobie, British Commander in Greece, says Reuter’s Athens correspondent. Greece will now obtain 130.000 tons of supplies monthly, including 50,000 tons of wheat and 10,000 tons of other foodstuffs, besides 70,000 tons of clothing and medicines. General Scobie s letter audea. “Supplies will be increased if the transport allows.” People of Athens queued for hours yesterday outside the Bank of Gieece to exchange devaluated drachmas for British gold sovereigns, the exchange being made at the rate of 20 trillion drachmas for one pound. The large demand for British pounds is a sign of more confidence in British currency. The Greek Finance Minister M Velos, announced that a stabilised Greek currency will be issued on November 11. Premier Papandreou, announcing the dissolution of the Elas and Edes Partisan organisations, said that every demobilised man will get one gold pound. ENEMY LOSSES LONDON, November 7.
