ST. PAUL’S CHURCH
ALLIED FAIR
Officially opened at 1.30 this afternoon by Rev. C. Blair, of Nelson, Chairman of the Nelson Synodal District, the Allied Fair being held in the Wesley Bi-centennial Hall in aid of the trust fund of St. Paul’s Methodist Church began this morning. The hall has been transformed into a busy scene with stalls appropriately decorated to represent the United Nations—England, France, U.S.A.. Belgium, Holland, Poland, Russia and China—each being well-stocked. The fair, which will continue this evening and throughout Friday and Friday evening after a break to-mor-row, i§ being well patronised.
The stall-holders and conveners are as follow:—
Ladies’ Guild.—Plain sewing, Mrs C. Garner. Jumble, Mrs W. McCabe and Mrs W. Williams. Junior Ladies’ Guild.—Fancy sewing, Mrs W. Braithwaite and Mrs M. W. T. Moore. Tea rooms, Mrs L. Schaef.
Bible Classes and Junior Church.— Cakes and sweets, Mrs O. Pearn and Mrs J. V/. Coadwell. Flowers, Mrs L. J. Shuker.
Men of the Church.—Books, Mr S. H. Sofield. Woodwork, including toys, Mr W .A. Judkins. Produce, Rev. E. S. Hoddinott. Side-shows, Mr R. Pepperell.
This evening a programme will be provided by Ford’s Orchestra, and on Friday evening by the pupils ol Miss M. Trott. ■
