CHUNGKING, Oct. 25. The Chinese have recaptured Sinning, 90 miles north of Kweilin, sass a Chinese communique. The Chinesei have progressed against the Japanese positions 21 miles north of Kweilin, which is the nearest Japanese pene-s tration to Kweilin. The Chinese military spokesman to-day claimed a major victory for the defenders of Kweilin. He asserted that the Chinese had annihilated the Japanese column at Sungkaingku, 22 miles north-east of Kweilin and that the Japanese spearhead trying to outflank Tajungkiang had marched into a trap. The Chinese, he said, had cut the Japanese line of retreat and had then attacked from three sides, wiping out the entire enemy killing, capturing and wounding 600. The Chinese had attacked another Japanese column and had stalled three others advancing towards Kweilin. COMMUNIST - ATTACKS CHUNGKING, Oct. 26. Clashes have occurred between' Chinese Government troops and Communist troops, according to the Cabinet spokesman, Mr. P. H. Chang. He said that at the end of August the Communists attacked the Sixt-first Chinese Army about eighteen miles eastwards of Linfen, in the Shansi Province. They were repulsed. The Communists then concentrated fourteen regiments, and on September 8 Communists attacked the Sixty-first Chinese Army, while mobile communist units attacked the Seventysecond Chinese Division, which they outnumbered. The Division was forced to retreat. The Communists also attacked Chinese Government troops on September 11 and September 21.
