KUMARA NOTES

Mrs J. Hunter presided over a well attended meeting of the Women's Institute. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to relations of two members. Mrs Caithness, senr., donated a mystery parcel, to be competed for at the Federation meeting at Hokitika. Golden Thread talk was continued by Mrs W. J. McNabb. Social half-hour competitions were won by Mesdames Reedy (2), W. J. McNabb, Comport and H. A. McNabb. Best tray-cloth made from a flourbag resulted: Mrs Lorimer 1, Mrs Birss 2, Mrs H. A. McNabb 3. There was a large and varied number of entries, and these were donated to the Westland Hospital. Best bloom competition: Mrs Hamer 1, Mrs Lorimer 2, Mrs Birss 3. Hostesses: Mrs Birss and Mrs Lakin and Miss Hamer.
