PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting •of the Greymouth Plunket Society held yesterday there was an attendance of 15 members, presided over by Mrs. F. M. Dennehy.

Nurse Pearce notified that arrangements had been finalised for a relieving nurse to take up 'duties during the annual leave period of the local staff. Permission was given Miss Pearce to take a refresher course of one week at the conclusion of her vacation.

Mrs. J. O’Brien reported on the recent Council meeting in Wellington, and was thanked for her address. A circular letter relative to the Victory Loan was received but no action was taken.

Headquarters wrote stating that a Dominion Conference will be held in Wellington towards the end of November at which the Greymouth Branch will be entitled to three representatives. It was decided to defer the appointment of delegates until the next meeting. The Nurse’s report for August was received as follows: Headquarters: Number of newcases 15, Visits to

homes, new 32, old 116. To rooms, adults 199, babies 180, pre-school 19. Outstations: New cases 28. Visits- to homes, new 35, old 151. To rooms, adults 257, babies 240, pre-school 17. Number of babies under supervision 631; pre-school children 222.
