The first of two street days to be held in Greymouth, this week, on behalf of the Allied Nations Week, took place to-day. Collectors on behalf of the women and children of occupied countries met with a good response.

Mr. L. Shuker presided over a meeting of about 50 members of the Blaketown Home and School Association, on Monday, when it was decided, in view of the amount of correspondence handled, to purchase a typewriter for the joint use of the Secretaries of the Association and the School Committee. It was also decided to combine with the Cobden State and Convent Schools in a shop day for patriotic purposes. Proposals were advanced for the erection of a supper room at the back of the school hall, a decision to be made at the next meeting. Mrs. L. O’Donnell, who recently relinquished the position of caretaker of the school, was presented with a cushion on behalf of the Association and Committee. At the conclusion of the business 50 members of the Blaketown Home and School Association were entertained at a social function, including dancing. A play was presented by Mesdames R. Longstaff (producer), W. Mitchell, Lyons, E. Hillman and W. Herring.
